Start the work of medical college in Talcher soon:Naveen to MCL

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik asked Mahanadi Coal field Ltd (MCL) to start the construction work of the proposed medical college in Talcher at the earliest. He is conspicuously unhappy for the procrastination. A medical college in Talcher, though being conceptualized in 2008 is yet to get any hard shape.
The direction from a resented CM came during the review meeting of the CSR work of the central Public sector unit on Saturday. H e has also asked MCL to settle the issues of the project affected people in three months time.

MCL has signed an agreement with the state government to establish a medical college and hospital in Talcher. The state government has assured to provide 20 acres of land free of cost for the project.MCL is to spend 492 cr in the project under its corporate social resposnsibility.The project was to commence business from the 2015-16 academic sessions.

Resentment among the people of Talcher is gaining space due to the delay in the work of the project and is leading to public agitations in the region. The latest agitation was witnessed on July 14.

The Chief Minister also directed the RDC to review the CSR activities of MCL regularly at the same time he asked MCL to put its CSR activity record on its website. He said that CSR activities are very significant in the ongoing industrialization in the state.

Among others present in the meeting were Health and Family welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das, Dhenkanal MP Tathagat Satpathy, Talcher MLA Baraj Kishore Pradhan, Chief Secretary GC Pati, MCL CMD A N Sahay .
