Members of the opposition parties in Odisha assembly rocked the house today on their concerns on the PC ( Percentage Commission) practice in the state. They expressed their resentment as their proposal for discussion on PC practice was rejected by the speaker. Their expression was strident. So much so that speaker Pradip Amat had to adjourn the house till 3PM.

The speaker adjourned the house at the behest of CM, alleged Taraprasad Bahinipati, the Chief Whip of Congress party.

Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said,” the adjournment motion was not accepted as the CM had no answer to the question of oppositions When Opposition members protested the rejection of notice, the Speaker adjourned the House.” and he added that they had sought a special discussion on the growing illegal activity of PC since the “CM had stressed on zero tolerance to PC”.

Opposition parties have put on an aggressive stand against the ruling BJD and CM Naveen Pattnaik on the PC matters.

Taraprasad Bahanipati on the previous day had directly blamed the Chief Minister Office as the center of the illegal practice called PC. He even went to the extent of calling to assault the officials in the CMO involved in the PC practice.

In June this year CM Naveen Pattnaik had striked the PC worm when he called the district collectors in a meeting to stop the PC practices in block offices. Since then this has made it to the political programmes in Odisha.

Even if the CM gave tongue to the PC matters only a few days back this is a practice notoriously familiar in government offices and others. The PC culture sounds loud in these offices.  Works, water resources, rural development and panchayati raj are the departments alleged to have strong PC practice.
