Bhubaneswar: Here came 1107 new cases of Covid-19 in Odisha, as per the daily official update at 8 AM today. Khurda district contributed 397new cases, and Cuttack 130. Balasore (66), Jagatsinghpur (53), and Jajpur( 52) are the only three districts that counted more than 50 new cases in 24 hours. Twelve of the 30 districts witnessed new Covid patients in single digits. There is no new Covid-19 patient in Boudh today.
During the same period, Odisha recorded 869 recoveries. Death count also increased by 67 in 24 hours. However, all the recorded deaths are not necessarily in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate of Odisha read 1.87 percent. Khurda has it the highest with 5.1 percent. Cuttack stands next with 3.1 percent.
The numbers have encouraged the government to allow almost all commercial and social activities in Odisha with some caution.
The Odisha government had reduced Covid-19 restrictions from August 1 in the state, following considerable improvements in the Covid-19 situation by a series of lockdowns.
Parks, bars, restaurants, and educational institutions have been allowed to open from August 1.
From 23 August, the Puri Jagannath temple is reopening for the devotees. Devotees can visit the temple between 7 in the morning and 7 in the evening. However, visitors will not be allowed on Saturdays and Sundays.
