
Bhubaneswar: Doctor or Personnel from health service or support service if dies while fighting with COVID-19 pandemic, Odisha government said, the state would entitle him a martyr. He will receive state funeral with state honor. Besides, the state will ensure the financial assistance of Rs 50 Lakh for his family and other respects a martyr gets. Mistreating the corona warriors will invite severe legal consequences, warned the government. Since the government considers act against them is an act against the state.
Odisha Chief Minister announced this through a video message on Tuesday midst the doctors, along with support workers, are in the frontline fighting with the COVID-19 pandemic. He said, the doctors and support services, in the frontline in the war with COVID-19 for the human race, deserve honor and acknowledgment for their valiant work. The world has lost 2lakh people in the pandemic.
“Odisha government in convergence with the government of India initiative has ensured that Rs 50 lakh is given to all health personnel (private or public) and members of all support services who lose their precious lives in the fight against COVID-19.” The CM said. And added, the state would treat them as martyrs and provide state funeral with state honor. The families of the martyrs, in government services of health as well as others, will continue to receive full salary till retirement.
Mr. Pattnaik said the award would be conferred on national days. Finally, warning strict criminal action, even under NSA, for misbehaving the doctors, health workers, or support workers, the CM said, “act against them is an act against the state.”
As of April 21, the number of COVID-19 positive cases count 79 in Odisha, after five new cases emerged from Jajpur. All these fresh cases have Kolkata link. However, 29 patients have recovered, leaving 49 in the active category. On the national tally, it is approaching 20000 marks. With 4866 positive cases, Maharashtra tops the list. Fatalities in the western Indian state is 232.
