To mark the first in Odisha, a 72-year man died of COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar on April 6. However, the government served the information today. The corona victim was in the AIIMS undergoing treatment for respiratory complaints since he took admission in there on the 4th of this month.
Serving the message the Health and Family Welfare department tweets, One 72 years male belonging to Jharpada had been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on 4th April with complaints of respiratory distress. He had history of chronic hypertension. He expired on 6th April. He was tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing and containment is ongoing.

The government is yet to disclose more details about the corona victim. But, in the daily COVID-19 briefing Subrat Bagchi said that the deceased’s cremation would take place according to the central government’s guideline. The Hospital will have to hand over the deceased’s body to the state government, he said. And, he added that the cremation would happen under the state government’s direct observation.
With two more findings today, the tally of COVID-19 positive in Odisha became 42. The deceased was beone while a 45 years man from Madhusudan Nagar was the other one. On the COVID-19 update in Odisha on the 7th March, active cases count 39. Two have recovered and one dead. Besides,The three centers in Odisha have tested 291 samples today, and caught two positive ones. Total tests to date count 2441 in the state.

Adding to the preventive measures against Coronavirus infection, Odisha government has made mask- use compulsory in the state. However, it has allowed people to go for homemade masks. Earlier, the government has forbidden use of motorcycles and vehicles for petty marketing.
