Cabinet passes 1052 cr skill development project

Odisha government will avail skill development training to the youth in the state through training institutes under a project named Odisha Skill Development Project (OSDP).The project estimated to be of Rs 1052cr will give training facilities to 2 lac youths in the next five years. Odisha cabinet, on Monday approved a proposal in this regard. The state government will take external assistance of 662 cr from the Asian Development Bank ADB for the project.

The state cabinet in a meeting on Saturday chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik has approved 14 proposals in total concerning the subjects of employment, agriculture and Industry.

The cabinet approved the proposal to amend the Odisha Civil Services Rules to let there be negative marking provisions in the OPSC examinations. A proposal to conduct OPSC examinations annually also got the cabinet approval.

State government will seek Rs 1787cr as loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA ) to complete the expansion work of Rengal Left Canal to bring 39 thousand acres of land under irrigation cover. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2013 according to a proposal passed in the cabinet.

There will be no levy on paddy collection decided cabinet besides the cabinet also decided to let the collection and transportation service of peanut and sunflower seeds under MSP be free of VAT. State will set up state food park in the line of mega Food Park.
