
The Software Technology Park of India (STPI) opened a new facility center in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Named STPI (ELITE) this is the largest such center of STPI in the eastern India.With a built- up area of 75000 sqft the software technology park is the house of Next Generation incubation facility for start-up and Entrepreneurs. It also have a Fabrication Lab in collaboration with MIT USA and an ESDM lab for electronic start- up besides a host of other facilities and incentives for boosting “digital empowerment.”
Union Minister for Electronics & IT and Law &Social Justice Ravishankar Prasad along with Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Rs 50 cr project at Gothpatna, Bhubaneswar on August 5 that the ministers said, will realise the philosophy of Digital India.
The Ministers also inaugurate the Secondary Data Center of the National Data Repository in the ELITE.
Mr. Prasad said, Digital India is about empowering ordinary Indian by digital technology to reform, transform and develop India as he added that the STPI ventures like that of in Odisha will break the divide between the” digital haves” and ” digital have nots” .
Elaborating how the government of India has actually realised the potential of Digital India the Minister said, 32 crore jandhan account holder are receiving their government financial benefits through e-transaction after the accounts were being connected with Aadhar and Mobile phones. Government has disbursed Rs 4 Lakh crores to the poor and has saved Rs 90 crore that used to be pocketed by middle men.
He said out of 130 crore population in India there are 120 crore mobile phones with 45 crore of those being smart phones. Internet connection in India counts 55 crore. Hundred and twenty two crore of the Indian population have got their Aadhar card. This digital revolution has been brought about by the massive speed and scale of work of Modi government after 2014.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that that new Infrastructure would promote entrepreneurship and innovation and will help the IT sector in Odisha reach new heights creating more and more employment avenues and contribute to the upliftment of the State as he added,” the STPI Electronics & IT Enclave (ELITE) will be the resource center of the country and will fulfill the vision of digital India.”
