In the central budgetary provision, Rs700 crore have been stipulated for the Khurda Road- Bolangir rail line. Two overhauling workshops will also set up in Odisha. Besides, other many crucial projects in the East Coast Railway (ECoR) too have received significant attention in the 2017-18 Budget proposal of “staggering” Rs5847.10 crore for this zone. Odisha region alone will get Rs5102crore in the coming finance year.
ECoR GM Umesh Singh shared the above information while he presented the project wise breakup of the Budget allocation before the media on 3 Feb 2017.
He said ““For infrastructure, ECoR has been sanctioned an staggering amount of Rs. 5847.10 crore in 2017-18 which is 2 per cent more than budgetary grant sanctioned last year,” Odisha’s share is Rs 5102 crore against Rs 4682 crore in the previous year, a hike of 9 percent.
An Electric Loco Periodical Overhauling workshop will be set up in Kalahandi and a freight wagon workshop with routine overhauling facility will be in Maneswar Sambalpur. Rs186.37 crore and Rs49.16 crore will be required for the projects respectively.
Besides the Rs 700 crore for Khurdha- Bolangir project, in the budget, there is provision of Rs250 crore for the in- progress 154 Km Talcher- Bimalgarh rail line. Anugul –Sukinda industrial corridor will get Rs200crore for its 98.7 Km line while the 82Km Haridashpur – Paradip line will also get Rs200 crore. There is provision of Rs 275 in the budget to start the 38 Km Jeypore-Nabrangpur line works.snd Rs79 crore for the 127 Km rail line between Jaypore and Malkangiri, Rs 5 crore for Lanjiigarh – Junagarh line and Rs1.5 crore for Daitari-Bansapani line.
Indian Railways and Odisha government will jointly contribute Rs2800 crore in 220 Km of Talcher-Gopalpur line, Rs 2000crore in 155.5 Km of Gopalpur- Singapur line and Rs 900 crore in 45Km line between Badampaharh and Bangiriposi.
