Rahul’s coronation programme is out. He will have the Congress’ rein in December first week.

Indian National Congress is all prepared to get Rahul Ganadhi as its new President. In December he is most likely to take over the rein of the 132 year old Party from his mother Sonia Gandhi to become its President.

The Congress Working Committee in a meeting chaired by Sonia Gandhi on Monday approved to start the process of election of the President. Following which the Central Election Committee released the election schedule.

Notification for the election would be issued on 1st December. Filing of nomination will be till 4th December. The 5TH December is the scheduled date for verification of applications. Candidates can withdraw nomination by 11th December. Election, if necessary will be held on the 16th and result will be declared on 19th.

The 19-days exercise may be there to show the democratic nature of the Congress Party but it is most unlikely that Rahul Gandhi will at all go through any contest to acquire the top post for the 5th generation of the Neheru Gandhi family.

All most all senior leaders of Congress were present in the meeting at the Residence of Sonia Gandhi at the 10th Janpath and as reports emerging, all have accepted the elevation Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi at present is the Vice President of INC since 19 January 2013. Before he was elevated to the post of Vice President he was the Party’s General Secretary since 25 January 2007.

Rahul Gandhi who represents Amethi in the Lok Sabha is seen as the most powerful figure in the party after Sonia Gandhi.

His elevation has been a favorite talking point in the media for a year or so before the programme appeared officially on Monday.
