
Rahul Gandhi at 10.45AM of the 4th December filed his nomination for the post of the President of Indian National Congress.
Congress stalwarts like former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Anand Sharma, Sheila Dixit, and Jyotiraditya Sindhia along with other senior leaders were present at the party office in Delhi where Rahul filed his first set of Nomination paper.
Rahul Gnadhi, till he filed his nomination was the only candidate in the fray. And it is almost unlikely that he would face any contest to assume the top post of the 132 years old party.
4TH December is the final date for filing nomination. List of candidates eligible for contest would be made clear on 5th December after scrutiny. Candidates can avail the option to quit by 11th December before the final line up would be out for the scheduled election on 16TH December.
In spite of all the electoral process the elevation of Rahul Gandhi to the post of President is going to be an one way affair.
He will replace his mother Sonia Gandhi at he helm of the party. Sonia Gandhi has been the president of INC since 1998 to hold the record of having the longest tenure in the seat.
Rahul Gandhi the incumbent Vice President, when assumes the office of INC President he would be of the fifth generation of the Nehru- Gandhi lineage to be there.
Rahul’s elevation has been a hot talking point for the last two years after Sonia Gandhi confronted with health challenges and she reduced her political activities.
