Odisha government, on the International worker’s day has increased the minimum wage of labours in the state. Naveen Pattnaik the CM of Odisha made the announcement in the May day celebration in Bhubaneswar as the state government is committed for the welfare of the workers.

As per the notification minimum wage of an unskilled labour will be Rs 200 after the implementation of the rule. At present it is Rs 150 for the unskilled labour. A semi-skilled worker will get Rs220 against Rs170 at present. Similarly minimum wage of a skilled labour has also been increased by Rs 50 to Rs 240. For a highly skilled worker minimum wage will be Rs 260. Government has invited objections and suggestions on this within 60says of the notification.

While announcing the minimum wage Naveen Pattnaik said “The workers are in fact pilots of development. The state government is committed for their welfare,” The minimum wages were raised based on the recommendation of the State Minimum Wage Advisory Committee for raising the minimum wages of workers of different categories.

Recently government has hiked DA of its employees by 6percent.
