India recorded 40953 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single-day spike in nearly four months. Yesterday the new cases counted 39726. The daily case count is registering a stiff incline since the beginning of this month alarming the advent of the second wave of Corona in India.
Maharashtra has a share of 25681fresh cases, the highest among the states in India. Punjab with 2470 stood second followed by Kerala with 1984. Karnataka, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh are among the top six states those carry 84 per cent of the total cases of the day.
As the new cases have been outnumbering the new recoveries the active caseload is continuously increasing. As of March 20, India has 288394 active cases, a net increase of 17112 yesterday. Maharashtra hosts 62.03 per cent of the total case count in India. Kerala, Punjab, and Maharashtra carry 76 per cent of the total active caseload.
As many as 23653 Covid patients have got well in 24 hours, and 188 have succumbed to the infection. Maharashtra alone saw the death of 70 persons in the last 24 hours, followed by Punjab 38 and Kerala 17.
