Conservation and efficiency is the way forward: Dharmendra

“For ensuring energy security of India” Dharmendra Pradhan the Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister says “conservation of energy and energy efficient technology is the way forward.”in a country like India where the import oil basket claims of Rs 6Lac crore a year from the exchequer the saving “just 10 percent of it can usher in a great change.”
The Minister was addressing at a function on Tuesday in New Delhi after launching three landmark initiatives for Energy Efficiency. These three initiatives are, “Design Guidelines for Energy Efficient Multi-Storey Residential Buildings and Star Ratings for Diesel Gensets and for Hospital Buildings”. The Design Guidelines are the first initiative of the government to bring energy efficiency into the design of homes.
Mr Pradhan said, “We should work like the trustee of the future generation” as he reminded “india’s culture and tradition that encourages the spirit of well being of all” thus he emphasized on the preservation and conservation of the natural resource and exhorted to use the resource sagely.
As hospital buildings are highly energy intensive commercial buildings the Secretary, Minister of Power P.K Sinha said “the introduction of star labels for hospital buildings provides both energy benchmarking and recognition for a fast – growing sector.” He added that these labels will help hospitals benchmark their own energy consumption and also identifying opportunities for improvement
