Odisha government is set to achieve complete rural electrification by June next year.
CM Naveen Pattnaik, in a review meeting of rural electrification on Monday has issued a direction in this regard.
As the state Energy Minister P .K Mallick said, the CM has directed to take electricity to villages not electrified at all by December 2017 and to complete electrification in the partially electrified villages by June 2018.
As many as750 villages in Odisha are yet to have access to electricity. By this year end they can hope to have it.
As per report there are 47,627 villages in Odisha out of which 46927 villages have electric facility.
The Minister says, there are 20309 villages which have partial electrification. Those villages would be covered completly by June 2018.
The central public sector undertakings like NTPC, PGCIL and state PSUs like OPTCL and OREDA have been entrusted with rural electrification works in the state.
