BJP in Talcher has sought Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik’s intervention in the ongoing impasse in the Hingula mines issue. Mining in Hingula has been reduced to zero function since 15 in the last month due to local agitation.

“There are hosts of grievances of land losers in the Hingula area as it is there in other mines areas” says BJP leader Kalandi Samal, “but the district administration is totally indifferent to them.” The antipathy by the government machinery has been triggering eruption of public outrage from time to time.

The mines affected villagers of Bhalugadia in Higula area are on strike with their demands for a long time but no one is there in the government to show any care for them. Thousands of people eking out their living from contractual labour and transportation works are going through a very hard time now. Economic activities in the small Hingula Market have slumped disrupting the livelihood of thousands of people there.

Sri Samal alleges that situation in these area are aggravating as local issues has been left unaddressed for years. There is no regularity in RPDAC meeting to take up the local grievances.
Taking note of the graveness of the situation Sri Samal has demanded the CM to intervene in the matter and asked for constitution of a committee under Chief Secretary to find a way out to solve the issue.
