Delhi Elections: BJP to back to power after 27 years predict exit polls

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to come to power in Delhi, ending a 27-year draught, as many agencies predict. In the 70-member Delhi assembly, BJP may cross the majority mark to form the government replacing Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP.  The party in the center is speculated to increase its tally from 8 to above 40. A party needs at least thirty-five seats in the assembly to form the government.

Of the 8 agencies’ reports released on Wednesday after the poll, 6 gave the BJP an edge. The BJP’s average number of seats was 39, while it was 30 for AAP. Congress is likely to draw blank again.

Axis My India, one of the noted election survey agencies came with its figures yesterday, a day after the polling. According to its report, BJP will get in the range of 45 to 55. Pradeep Gupta’s agency gives 15 to 25 seats to AAP. Its report claims BJP will gain 48 percent of the vote share, while it would be 42 percent for AAP.

C- Voters and Chanakya Today also predicted a similar line. For Chanakya Today BJP’s vote share may go up to 49 percent from 38 percent in the 2020 elections. AAP will observe a 12 percent fall in its vote share to 42 percent.

However, AAP is reluctant to agree with the reports.  It ignores the adverse reports showing confidence to retain power. Sanjay Singh, MP, said that companies giving messages and running spas have conducted the exit polls.

Delhi went to polling on 6th February. Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP was contesting for its fourth term in a row, while BJP was in the fray to end its 27 years of exile from power in the national capital state.

On February 6, Delhi witnessed 60. 2 percent of voters turn out for its70 assembly seats, recording a 2 percent drop.
