INDIA –AUSTRALIA TEST-4 DAY 1: PUJARA’S UNBEATEN TON AT SYDNEY PLACES INDIA AT TOP

At stump on the first day of the 4th test at Sydney, India is positioned at 303 for4. Cheteswar Pujura with 130, his third ton in the series, is well in the business with Hanuma Bihari. The duo scored quick 75 runs to give solidity to India’s position that is aspiring to record its maiden test series win Down Under. Bihari is on 39. The other major contribution came from Mayank Agarwal. He was well set for his first test century when his temperament let him down at 77, however an impressive figure.

K L Rahul again disappointed in the opening. Kohli could score only 23. Ajinkya Rahane also fell cheaply.

Kohli won the crucial toss and elected to bat first considering the wicket to be good and having the attack line comprising of three spinners. Kuldeep Yadav made it to the playing line up replacing Ishant Sharma, while Rohit Sharma gave way to K L Rahul to open the innings with Mayank Agarwal.

Rahul, in the second over edged a Hazlewood’s away moving ball to Shaun Marsh offering an early breakthrough to the host but that followed a gritty second wicket partnership of 126 runs between Pujara and Mayank neutralizing the adversity.

An unfinished combined run of 175 runs came from Pujara and Bihari in the fourth session of the day.
