IND-AUST 3RD TEST DAY3: India is in command in spite of early setbacks in the second innings.

With a lead of 346 runs at stumps on day 4 in the 3rd test at Melbourne, India are in the driving seat even though the guests are five wickets down for just 54 in their second innings.

The entire Australian team and half of the Indian side were out in the day’s play. Jasprit Bumrah achieved a six-fer for 33 to record his career best that was instrumental in limiting the Aussies at 151. India got a lead of 292 runs in the first innings.

Virat did not ask the Aussies to follow on contrary to speculations. India took the fields in the second innings aiming to enhance the lead but suffered five casualties in just 27 overs. Pat Cummins claimed four of them.

Cummins eliminated Pujara and Virat for duck in his third over after he gave his team the breakthrough in his second over in the form of Hanuma Vihari (13). He removed Ajinka Rahane(1) in his fourth over. Rohit Sharma edged a Hazlewood delivery at his personal score of 5. India score read 44 for 5.

The hosts resumed the day’s proceedings having 8 overnight runs with them and all ten wickets intact. Mayank Gandhi took a beautiful low catch at short mid-wicket to remove Flinch of Ishant Sharma in the 11th over of the day. In the 14th over Harish hooked a Bumrah’s delivery into the hand of        Ishant Sharma to give the former his first of the six wickets of the innings. He, with beauty of slower delivery removed Shaun Marsh LBW in the last ball of the first session.

Jadeja got two wickets while Shami and Ishant baged a piece each.

Mayank who had scored beautiful 76 in the first innings will return to bat tomorrow with his overnight score of 28 along with Rishav Pant( 6)
