DAY 2 In Incheon Asiad: Bronze from Shooting and Badminton for India

On the second day in Incheon Asiad India cornered two bronzes from the haunt- one from shooting and the other one from badminton. Though not as bright as that of the day 1 for that gold in shooting the achievement is conspicuous from the point of view that India Indian shuttler made it to the podium after 28 years.
India’s women badminton team began its campaign in the semifinal against South Korea with promise as Saina Nahewal defeated the World No-4 Ji Hyun Sung in 58 minutes but her fellow team members failed to play up to their potential. The World Championship bronze medalist PV Sindhu lost to world No-6 yeon ju Bae after an hour and 19 minutes contest. Then the double combination of N Sikki Reddy and Pradnya Gadre failed to stand before the host duo of Kim Soyeong and Chang Yena to be followed by PC Thulasi’s defeat from Kim Hyomin.
Jitu Rai the golden shooter of the day-1 led his team to the podium for a bronze in the 100m Pistol. The team comprising of Samaresh Jung and Prakash Nanjappa along with JItu scored tie with China at 1743 but lost the silver on Bull’s eye score.
Two medals has confirmed for India from the squash court.Deepika Pillikal and Sourav Ghosal has entered into the semifinals in their respective matches.
Pallikal beat her compatriot Jyoshna Chinnappa 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 15-17, 11-9 while Sourav Ghoshal prevailed upon Pakistan’s Iqbal Nasir 11-6, 9-11, 11-2, 11-9 to confirm a medal for the third time in a row in the Asiad.
