Sania writes history for India at wimbledon

As the first Indian lady Sania Mirza won a grand slam tennis tournament in the doubles. Paired with Martina Hingis she achieved the feat in the Wimbledon. The Indo-Swiss duo defeated the Russian pair of Ekaderina Makarova and Elina Vesnina-5-7, 7-6, 7-5.
For Sania as she describes, the Wimbledon final was” unbelievably exciting” but the first seeds had a real tough time against the second seeds in the center court. In the decider set The Sania-Hingis duo registered marvelous fight back to win the title 2-1.
In the fourth game Makarova-Vesnina pair broke Hingis’ service to take a lead 3-1 then it became 5-2 after the 7th game. From there the top seed won five games straight for the title- the first one for Sania and the fourth for the Swiss lady.
The second set went to the tie breaker after they had lost the first set (5-7). In the third set too they were trailing by 2-4 but finally score read 7-5 in their favor.
Sania Mirza the Indian tennis inspiration, prior to this maiden Wimbledon victory, had three grand slam trophies in her cupboard. She had won the Australian open in the Mixed- double category in 2009 being paired with compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi thus she became the first Indian woman to lift a grand slam trophy. In 2012 she won the French open with Bhupathi and two years later won the US open with Bruno Soars as her mixed partner.
