Opposition parties in Odisha have aired their demand to get Naveen Pattnaik grilled in the Talabira coal block allocation case. The demand got force a day after the Supreme Court had asked a special court to probe into the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s role in allocating the coal block to Hindalco, an Aditya Birla Company.

“CBI must quiz Naveen Pattnaik in the Talabira coal block allocation case” said K.V. Singhdeo the President of Odisha BJP as he added that the Chief Minister can get away with the scam by his versions of state interests. He said “from the beginning we have been demanding for CBI probe in the Coal Scam and our demand stands even today.”

In 2005 Naveen Pattnaik had recommended the name of Hindalco to the center for the Talabira coal block as the “top most priority.”

“So “The BJP state chief reasons “if the former Prime Minister can be questioned for allocating the Coal block then Naveen Pattnaik who had made this selective recommendation must also be questioned.”

Earlier the new President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee Prasad Harichandan also had viewed that CBI should question Naveen Pattnaik first before the central agency go for questioning the Ex- Prime Minister in the Talabira coal block case.

BJD has rubbished such demand by the opposition terming it as “Politically motivated”. Party spokesman Pratap Keshari Deb said that it was not proper to demand questioning of the Chief Minister just because the special court has directed the CBI to examine Manmohan Singh.
