Odisha upgrades its data sharing system by adding data website

Bhubaneswar (17 Oct Odisha government has opened up its database for public access.Any one now can get data and information of government departments from a web portal- www.odisha.data.gov.in.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Tuesday introduced the portal in the system of government’s data sharing and transparency to upgrade it.

“Artificial intelligence, digital learning and learning through machines are emerging as effective methods for the present and future. It is extremely important for Government departments to put more and more data on public platform for the use of citizens and civil society,”said Mr. Padhi.

With the upgraded system being in function an information seeker can get his requirements from the portal not necessarily through RTI, it is easier and faster.

It takes at least 30 days to get a government-information through RTI application

Electronics and Information & Technology Secretary Ashok Mina who also among others also graced the occasion said that sharing of data with people was the prime objective of the portal. And added, “The government departments gather a lot of data in course of their functioning and implementation of programmes. These data are very useful not only for governance but also for learning, research and awareness.

National Informatics Center (NIC) with the help of Department of Electronics and Information &Technology has developed the website that will contain data and information of all  departments like Education,Health and Family welfare and the women and child development

These departments have been asked to upload atleast 10 data faces within a week. They would increase the database gradually.

Odisha, after Sikkim, Tamilnadu and Assam is the 4th state in India to have such a website for open Data sharing.
