no_photosBHUBANESWAR:Government of Odisha is set to take on the land scam wave-an investigation and a notice to follow. The erring persons if found guilty will be put under strict action.
As the recently revealed land misuse case in Bhubaneswar is snowballing to a political storm the Special Secretary (GA) Nitin Chandra on Monday told at the Media that GA and Health departments would jointly probe into the alleged misuse of land leased out for the purpose of hospitals. “Show cause notice will be issued to the defaulters only after proper investigation” said Mr. Chandra as he added that strong action will be taken against the lease holder who will be found to have violated the norms.
The Health and Family Welfare department had published a list of 44 individuals and institutions that had availed highly subsidized prime land in the capital for hospitals and nursing homes. As per the norms free health service should be provided to the BPL patients. While 21 are running health centers on the allotted plots 10 are in different stages of the process but 13are found not to have made any progress in the line.
And Dr Jyoti Routray, wife of Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Bijoyshree Routray is the big name in the list to attract political storm. The minister has clarified that the land his wife had availed did have a hospital on it but after it became economically unviable his family used it for residential purpose.
