Odisha Governer SC Jamir said, Odisha is working hard and is striving for excellence to make the Odisha of tomorrow more bright”

The Governor odisha S C Jamir, addressing the assembly to mark the onset of the Budget session on Tuesday said that the state had achieved sustainable development as a result of his government’s methods of working.

He said, the Government’s three ‘Ts’, Teamwork, Technology and Transparency, and three ‘Is’ Irrigation Infrastructure and Inclusion has resulted in the achievement of sustainable growth.

Through his address to the assembly which happened to be his last of this tenure as the governor of Odisha Jamir highlighted the government’s success in the field of law and order, health and in the agricultural sector.

However the opposition refused to be impressed with the government’s claims and the Congress staged a walk out soon after the Governor started his address.

Jamir said more than eight million people have been brought above the poverty line as he added,”We are firmly on the path of stability and good governance with our pro-poor approach. The present Odisha is working hard and is striving for excellence to make the Odisha of tomorrow more bright”

He also said that agricultural production and farmers’ income have doubled as he said that the food grains production was estimated to reach 107 lakh tonnes during 2017-18 and it was expected to be about 122 lakh tonnes during 2018-19, .

More than 15.50 lakh pucca houses have been constructed for the rural poor, said the Governor and asserted his government’s determination to provide pucaa houses to all rural poor households.

Infant Mortality has dropped to 40 in 2015-16 from 65 in 2005-06.said the Governor.

On the law and order situation, the Governer said the year 2017 remained peaceful and passed without any communal violence in the state; Activities of the Left Wing Extremists were under control.

He said,  “Activities of LWEs remained under control with no significant activities being noticed in the districts of Gajapati, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Nabarangpur.” as he said the LWE’s activities were contained in  Nuapada, Boudh, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Sundargarh districts.

Naxal Menace in Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Angul, Balangir and Bargarh districts however remained to be a challenge, said the Governor
