Odisha BJP welcomes Damababu on his return from Delhi with lotus.

Odisha unit of BJP welcomed Damodar Rout in the Bhubaneswar party office on Friday as he returned from Delhi after joining the party there.

While addressing the gathering on the occasion, the veteran leader said, “breaking a relation of 45 years I have joined BJP.

“I believe under BJP, people of Odisha will become free from the corrupt government of BJD.” He said.

Damodar Rout, a political heavyweight who had held important portfolios in the BJD government and organization, joined BJP on March 14. He was expelled from BJD in September last year following his remarks that embarrassed the Naveen government in Odisha.

His joining in BJP was doing the round for a week now, though, in the beginning, he was brooding over o many other options-floating own party or joining Congress.

Finally, on Thursday he arrived in the BJP national headquarter in New Delhi and formally became part of the saffron outfit in the presence of two Union Ministers-Jual Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan, Baijayant Panda,  K V Singdeo and Odisha in-charge Arun Singh.

After joining the party, Mr. Rout said that he would do all that he could to oust Naveen Patnaik government. He further said, “the present Naveen government is dipped in corruption.”

Dharmendra Pradhan, hailing Mr. Rout as a follower of Biju Babu’s ideology and a true leader of farmers, Tribals and backward class, said that his joining in BJP will make the party strong at the grass root level in Odisha.
