
On Saturday, in the thick of all the political hit, Prakash Behera, the Salipur legislator belonging Congress, broke up his 20 years of association with the party; fueling speculations of his joining BJP, While Bhalabhadra Majhi, the Nabarangpur MP from BJD, jumped to the Saffron camp in the Delhi headquarter. The ruling party lost another leader in the form Pritinanda, a BJD cooperator of Bhubaneswar. Priti is the daughter of Damodar Rout, who is just into BJP.
Another BJD MLA Sukant Nayak had quit the party on Friday.
It is not that the ruling outfit witnessed all the losses only. It got Odisha-BJP President’s nephew, Harishchandra Panda in its fold. Besides, in a highly charged political atmosphere, there were waves of protest against some sitting MLAs in front of the Naveen Nivas. Sambalpur MLA Rasheswari Panigrahi and Niali MLA Pramod Mallick were under the heat.
But the ruling outfit is hopeful of catching Dilip Ray, a big fish, tomorrow. Mr. Ray who quit BJP in November last year is believed to return to BJD after 17 years. He met BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday.
