Bhubaneswar: All India Congress has released its first list of candidates, for the 2019- elections, comprising of Six Parliamentary and 36 assembly constituencies. The list came late night on Monday after BJD announced its candidates in the afternoon of the day.
Four of the parliamentary segments of the six announced, in the Western and Southern part of Odisha will go to poll on April 11 in the first phase. Twenty Eight assembly segments within the four Parliamentary segments will also go to poll simultaneously. The second phase of the election will take place on April 18.
Pradeep Majhi has been selected to contest from Nabarangpur, which he had won in 2009. Similarly, Bhakta Charan Das also got his constituency Bhawanipatna to contest in. Congress is fielding George Tirkey, the new entrant in the party from SKD, in the Sundergarh Parliamentary Constituency. Former Odisha CM and Veteran Congress leader Hemannada Biswal was the Congress Candidate there in 2014. Manoj Kumar Acharya will get the Congress ticket for Kandhamal while Pradeep Kumar Devta and V. Chandrasekhar Naidu has been offered to contest from Bargarh and Berhampur parliamentary segments respectively.
