
Bhubaneswar: BJP announced names for 99 assembly constituencies of the 147 of Odisha on Thursday. The party has also cleared names for ten parliamentary constituencies in Odisha. Odisha will be observing polls for its legislative assembly simultaneously with the general elections for the Parliament.
The Party Central Election Committee approved Dr. Damodar Rout’s candidature for the Balikuda- Erasama assembly constituency. Dr. Rout has joined BJP a week back after he fell out with the BJD, that he had a long allegiance to.
Kusum Tete, another tribal leader who had deserted BJD protesting candidate selection in the Naveen’s dispensation, got her name approved for the BJP ticket for Sundergarh assembly constituency. Prakash Behera, the Congress defector in BJP has been selected for Salepur ticket.
K Narayan Rao will get BJP ticket to contest in Paralakhemunbdi. He has also moved to the saffron fold resigning BJD. Babu Singh, BJP has captured from the ongoing pre-poll exodus, has found his name in the list for Bhubaneswar Ekamra. Jagannath Pradhan will be in the fray for Central Bhubaneswar.
Jayanarayan Mishra will be fielded in Sambalpur while Pradip Purohit will get the ticket for Padmapur to retain the seat for the party. The Party has also decided to field Radharani Panda in Brajaraj Nagar.
Prithviraj Harichandan, the BJP General Secretary, has been moved to the fray in Chilika.
Odisha will go to poll in four phases on April 11, April 18, April 23 and April 29.
