Case filed against Panda Infra, two engineers and others. One arrested in the Bhubaneswar flyover tragedy

Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police on Monday has arrested Deputy Executive Engineer of Works Department Banshidhar Praharaj in connection with the Sunday’s flyover tragedy that led one person killed and 12 injured.

Police has registered a case against three top officials of Panda Infra and two engineers of Works Department under sections 284, 304, 337, 338 and 34 of IPC, said Police Commissioner YB Khurania to the press today.

While Praharaj is under arrest other four co-accuseds are at large.Mr. Khurania said” We will do what ever is necessary to catch them.”

Immediately after the incident Odisha government had ordered probe into the case.

Heat of the incident has rocked the Odisha assembly today. The house could not withstand opposition’s vociferous demand of CM Naveen Pattnaik’s resignation for works department’s share of responsibility in the case. The house was adjourned till 3PM.

Oppostion has alleged ex-Minister Arun Sahoo of BJD to have business link with Pand Infra.

BJP MLA Pradiip Purohit said, “ the construction work was undertaken under the influence of Arun Sahoo.” as he sought CM Naveen Pattnaik’s clirification if Arun Sahoo had invested in the project or not.

Earlier Leader of Opposition Narasingh Misahra had also indicated BJD leader’s part in the project.

However Arun Sahoo has rejected all such allegations against him.
