For the third day in a row Odisha assembly could not withstand the ruckus in the house on Thursday. It was BJP’s turn today as the previous two days belonged to Congress.
BJP leaders in the house posted vociferous protest against their BJD counterparts for their disparaging remark against PM Narendra modi. That left Speaker Niranjan Pujari to call repeated adjournments of the house. He called the all party meeting but to no avail.
During his course of presentation in the zero hour BJD legislator Mahesh Sahoo made a comment, not qualifying parliamentary standard on PM Narendra Modi for his poverty remark on Odisha. He said, Odisha gives revenue of Rs 80 thousand crore to the centre. The Primr Minister is on his seat with the money from Odisha. Prior to that statement Taraprasad Bahinipati had criticized Modi strongly but Mahesh Sahoo’s statement proved hard enough for the BJP leaders to let him get away with that. Soon the BJP members were seen in the well of the house with apology demands. The speaker expunged complained remark of Sahoo but failed to impress BJP members and adjourned the house for 15 minutes only to register similar remarks from another BJD member Samir Das leading to another adjournment till 3PM and finally for the day at 5.56PM without any transaction of business.
The speaker had convened an all party meeting to alleviate the situation but it failed. BJP members refused to retreat without taking apology from Mahesh Sahoo and Samir Das.
