Bhubaneswar| BJD MLA Pravat Biswal who is under judicial custody for chit fund linked allegations got no respite from the Court.His second effort for bail failed today in the Khordha District and Session Court.
After the Special CBI Court in Bhubaneswar had rejected Mr. Biswal’s bail request on Saturday he had approached the Khordha District and Session Court.
The legislator is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He has been shifted there from the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar to avail him better medical facilities for his deteriorated health problems.
CBI had arrested Mr. Biswal on September 19, following a brief interrogation exercise in its Bhubaneswar office related to his alleged link with Seashore one of the major accused in the Chit Fund Scam in Odisha.
What the CBI has reveled as of now is that, it was for a dubious land deal of 25 lakh between Pravat Biswal’s wife Laxmi Bilasini Biswal and Seashore owner Prasant Das that the legislator is in trouble.
There has been debates and disputes on the presence of political factor in the process of CBI operation in the Rs20,000 chitfund scam in Odisha. In every raid or arrest by CBI in the chitfund case the political climate in Odisha has excited. But in the case of Pravat Biswal’s arrest it has escalated.
There prevails a stand off btween BJD and BJP in Odisha on this matter.
The recent arrestee Pravat Biswal belongs to BJD, the ruling party in Odisha, Previously two BJD law makers have already been arrested and some more are under CBI scanner. While BJP is in power in Delhi and it has set a pressing aspiration to acquire Odisha in 2019.
