BJD/ BJD LAUNCHES ITS MEMBERSHIP DRIVE TO HIT ONE CRORE MARK

Biju Janata Dal got its membership drive underway in Bhubaneswar on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 2. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik kicked start the program for Bhubaneswar in the state party office a day after he prefaced the statewide membership campaign on Sunday.

BJD is eyeing to collect ten million members in its fold through a two-month campaign till October 31. With a membership size of 47 lakh, it is the largest political party in Odisha at present.

Naveen Patnaik has called upon his workers to reach out to every household with party ideology to attract members into BJD. The party has designed the membership collection device in the form of four active members in a ward, 5 in a NAC and 15 in a municipality ward.  A municipality corporation ward will have 40 active members of BJD with the assignment.

BJD has introduced Aadhar link in its membership enlisting methodology. It will facilitate government benefits to reach to the members, claim the party. Aadhar linking has been controversial in the country on the privacy issue. Yet, BJD expects a good return in terms of membership with this ploy.

BJP has concluded its nationwide membership drive on August 20. The party claims to have increased its membership size from 36 lakh to 50 lakh in Odisha. The national organization has 14 crore members as on completion of the drive.
