12.76 lakh houses provided in Odisha under rural housing schemes in the last three years.

Odisha Government in the last three years has issued 12.76 lakh units of houses to the needy families in Odisha under various rural housing schemes of both the center and state since 2014-15. In the current financial year the number counts 1.42 lakh units.

A government official provided the figures on the side-line of a review meeting by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Friday.

As per the figures provided, 94,659 units from PMAY and 19056 from IAY have been completed.in the running financial year. Completed housed under BPGY and BPGY (mining) count 22730 and 5430 respectively. There are 991 finalised units under NSPGY this year till now.

The state government has set a target to finish 6.5 lakh units of house in 2017-18.

Mr Padhi encouraged his fellow officers to see the target achieved totally. He also asked the collectors to be strict to check corruption and unethical practices in implementation of the rural housing schemes.

Development commissioner R Balakrishnan, who was also present during the video conferencing, advised the collectors to fix specific targets for each employee engaged in the task and take up daily review of the progress through Whatsapp and SMS.

Government has made incentive provisions for the beneficiaries’ achievements to speed up construction works. One who completes his work within 4 months of his getting work order will get Rs 20000 as an incentive, for finishing the work in 6months he will get Rs 10,000.
