As many as 18 politial parties came together on a platform in Patna on Sunday and shouted to chase BJP off to save the country.

The occasion was “BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao” rally, Host- Lalu Prasad Yadav and Family, Gandhi Maidan Patna was the venue.

The crowd turnout there was some tens of thousands in number, good enough to keep the leaders, humiliated by BJP in the last three years charged up. Congress was drubbed in 2014 elections and in subsequent several small and big encounters. However Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her deputy and son Rahul Gandhi circumspectively chose to make no physical presence there. Gulam Nabi Azad appeared for Congress with Sonia’s audio recorded speech. Akhilesh Yadav, dethroned in March this year by BJP was there from SP. West Bengal CM Mamata Banarjee contributed her presence and shout for TMC. Besides RLD, JMM, JD(S) and CPI had shared the platform.

Besides Sonia and Rahul the abscence of BSP chief Mayawati the former CM of UP was a big tlaking point. Her political issues with Akhilesh in UP might have ruled her decision. Similarly the rivalry between CPI(M) and TMC in West Bengal let only one of the two to be comfortable in the group. This time it was Mamata’s TMC.

Sharad Yadav the rebel JDU leader was one of the highlights of the event in the light of Nitish Kumar’s realliance with BJP last month.  Sharad Yadav participated in the rally as a challenge to his party’s stand.

After combining all, the entire event for its crowd gathering and leaders’ presence offers reason for Lalu Prasad to feel satisfied.  After Nitish Kumar broke away from the “Mahagathbandhan”, as his respond to the corruption charges against Lalu Prasad and his family members, lalu Prasad had call to test his political relevence.

The August 27 programme was scheduled months back but the last month’s political development in Bihar revised its complex. Nitish Kumar was made the butt of attack along with BJP. Lalu Prasad called him palturam or turncoat and said, this is his last reversal, no one will trust him now.’ He is finished.

All the leaders harped on how the grand alliance beat BJP in Bihar, they reminded how Nitish betrayed the public mandate by going back to BJP, and they all attacked PM Narebdra Modi and endorsed the theme of the rally- “BJP bhagao, Desh Bachao”.  They all called to come together to take on BJP in 2019.

Sarad Yadav said that he would work to form a bigger alliance. “ i will go to every nook and corner of the country to forge an alliance for the 125 cr people of this country.” He said “I am not afraid of any one.”

Mamata Banarjee slapped charges against PM Modi that he was misusing central agencies against opposition leaders and cursed demonetization would led to the down fall of Modi government.
