ODISHA CM NAVEEN PATANIK TO EXPLORE SURAT FOR ODIA VOTES.

 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will be to Surat today on a two- day visit where he will attend the Odisha Mahostav and meet the Odia Community residing there.

There are about 7 lakh people from Odisha, mostly from the District of Ganjam living in the city of Surat engaged in various trades and business there.

The CM is expected to be accompanied by Odisha tourism Minister Ashok Panda and all seven legislators from Ganjam District. The CM too represents a constituency from Ganjam district that is Hinjli in the assembly.

As a preface to his maiden visit to Surat, Naveen Patnaik has sought the center to better rail and air connectivity between Surat and a Berhampur. He has put demand for two trains between Berhampur and Surat besides a Bhubaneswar- Surat flight facility before the central government. On Saturday he has written two letters to the concerned Ministers in the central government in this connection. .

Given the massiveness of the Odia population in Surat that claims a huge political influence here in their home turf the CM’s this Surat-trip is seen as an endeavor for exploiting its voting potential.

Naveen Patnaik will go into the elections early next year seeking a fifth term of Chief Minister for himself.
