
As the stalemate over government formation in Maharashtra continues for the twelfth day since the election result, BJP held its core committee meeting at the CM Fadnavis’ official residence on Tuesday. After the meeting, Chandrakant Patil, President of BJP’s Maharashtra unit said, his party is always ready to discuss with Shiv Sena over government formation. However, he reiterated the BJP-Sena government as it has got the public mandate. He, however, stuck to BJP’s Chief Minister without term -split.
But, Shiv Sena is reluctant to budge from its claim of fifty percent share in ministerial portfolios and two and half years’ term of Chief Minister.
Monday witnessed spurt in Maharashtra political activities, as Shiv Sena met the Governor; there was a meeting between Sarad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, and Debendra Fadnavis called on his party president Amit Shaha.
However, the outcome left nothing more than speculations. All the four parties equivocated on their move over government formation.
Shiv Sena, after the meeting with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, said that the party with the majority should stake claim to form the government. But, on its terms in the power-sharing formula with BJP, it is reluctant to compromise.
Sanjay Raut, who is leading Shiv Sena’s voice, said that they had informed the governor that Shiv Sena was not responsible for the impasse.
The other significant meeting was between NCP Chief Sarad Pawar and his congress counterpart Sonia Gandhi. Pawar, after the meeting, expressed no urgency on taking part in government. He said that his party doesn’t have the number with them form a government. Party with number owns the responsibility to give a government, he said. He, however, had a prevaricated response on what would happen in the future.
