Pakistan called Infia the “mother of terrorism,” and its democracy” world’s largest hypocrisy” but could not get away with these narratives when India responded.
On Sunday Poulmi Tripathy, Permanent Mission of India to UN took the floor to respond her Pakistani conterpart’s “false narratives” about India in the General Assembly of United Nations, UNGA.
“The Permanent Representative of Pakistan, in her statement,” said Ms Tripathy, “yet again sought to divert attention from Pakistan’s role as the hub of global terrorism by callously holding up a picture of an injured girl.”
On Saturday Pakistan’s Permanent representative toUN Maleeha Lodhi, under the right to reply displayed a picture of a bullet ridden girl to narrate India as the” Mother of terrorism” in the UNGA ‘s annual debate in Newyork. The Picture later was found to be a fake one.
She said, It was a photograph of Rawya abu Jom’a, a girl from Palestine. The picture was taken on 22 July 2014 by an American photographer Heidi Levine. This photograph was published by New York Times on 24 March 2015 under the caption ‘Conflict, Courage and Healing in Gaza’.
‘The Permanent Representative of Pakistan misled this Assembly by displaying this picture to spread falsehoods about India. It was fake picture to push a completely false narrative.’ She said.
Ms Tripathy, on the contrary showed the picture of Indian Army Officer Umar Faiyaz who was killed kidnapped and killed by Pakistan supported terrorist in May 2017.
She said the picture was real picture not a fake picture that pakistan’s representative was “holding callously”
“This true picture portrays a harsh and tragic reality. A picture of terrorism emanating from across our borders that the people of India, especially in the state of Jammu and Kashmir have to struggle with, every day. This is the reality which the Permanent Representative of Pakistan sought to obfuscate.”
“The true face of Pakistan is not hidden from anyone.” She said concluding her points.
