Odisha government has a target of building 9 lakn 70 thousand units of pucca houses in the state through various rural housing schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojan(PMAY), Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana(mines) and Nirman Sramik Pucca Ghar Yojan. As of now 1 Lakh 21 thousand 928 units have been completed.
Odisha Panchayat Raj Minister Pradeep Maharathy presented the figures in the Odisha assembly on Tuesday.
Mr. Maharathi, as an answer to a question of Chandra Sekhar Majhi (Congress) mentioned that 2, 57,894 houses have been sanctioned under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana till 2015-16.
However the Minister presented the answer only to receive blows from the opposition bench in the house. His figure did not match with that of his predecessor. Arun Sahoo as the Panchaayat RaJ Minister had given the figure as 2, 62,680 in the house on 6 December 2016.
Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra came down heavily on the government for the different figures. He charged, this government is misleading the house by giving contradictory answers.
Hoever Mr. Pradeep Maharathi sticked to his figures. He said, I don’t know what other minister had said but my statement is right.”
The monsoon session of the Odisha house could experience normal business on Wednesday after three spoiled days.
